Character's Full Name: Allen Francis Doyle

Character Age: 24
Physical Description: Doyle dresses as one would expect of a Los Angeles hustler, eternally stuck in the 70's, light colored leather coats over badly styled shirts. his choice in clothes though odd at times do look good on him. He is a very average looking guy when you stand him beside say Angel or movie stars but he has his charms too. With blue eyes, short messy black hair on pale irish skin he could be more handsome if he put in some effort to look nice. Being a rather short guy he makes up for it with quirky humor and playfulness.

Now his demon side is well pointy, his face turns green and he gets black spikes and red eyes added too it. Not the most attractive looking demon but he does gain a lot from that side of himself.
Character's Species/Race (aka human, elf, dragonblood human, etc): Half Brachen-Human hybrid

Character History (Pre-Veil):At some point before he turned 19, Francis Doyle left Ireland with his mother to America. He also not only finished school but got his teaching credentials and worked part time at a soup kitchen where he would meet a woman named Harriet whom he married by the time he was 20. A year or so into the marriage the two were talking about children and his demon heritage presented itself. This scared both him and Harry needless to say, it was only then that his mother confessed his father was a demon. Doyle didn't handle the news well at all, he feel apart and pushed everyone away, losing his job and wife and ending up in LA on his own.

Some point after he was contacted by a Brachen demon named Lucas who needed help escaping the Scourge, but he was young and still freaked out by what he was so he turned Lucus away. Later that night the first vision hit him so hard he thought he was having a stroke. The images horrified him and he had to see if they were real. When he found the bodies he realized this blood was on his hands and he feel deeper but used the mind splitting headaches to try and help those he could.

It took almost 3-4 years before he found himself standing in the home of the vampire Angel. A story of his life and a mission from the Powers That Be so he with Angel and Cordelia started Angel Investigations to 'help the hopeless' He worked with them a few months growing close to both and falling for Cordelia but still hiding his demon haritage from her and dodging all of Angel's questions about his life. That was until Harry came back, she found him to ask for a divorce. This was how Angel and Cordy found out Doyle's life well outside of the half demon bit, Cordy still manged not to find out.

A bit more time passes and his past came to bite him in the ass, the Scourge came back this time after a tribe of Lister demons, Angel and Doyle went to their aid, it was then that Doyle told Angel about the Brachen's who he had not helped before and how death was coming. They chartered a boat to help get the Listers out but it was too late, the Scourge was already on their way with a weapon that burned anything with human blood. Doyle had had to run to track down one of the Listers that had run off, by the time he got the kid back to the ship one of the demons had let slip to Cordelia that Doyle understood their plight being half demon. The two had a moment of confession after she slapped him upon his return. Seeing Angel coming their way the three had to rush down to help the Lister demons before the Scourge could get them.

Earlier that very day Doyle and Angel had had a talk about not knowing your true strength and bring tested, when Doyle realized Angel aimed to kill himself to shut off the machine and saved not only the Listers but, him and Cordy he knew then what Angel had meant. Telling Angel as much in a sad moment meant to be a good by from Angel to Doyle, the Irishman punched out the vampire, kissed Cordelia and finally atoned for the sins of his past. he gave up his life to save the lives of the Listers and his friends.

Post Veil History: He's been hustling to survive since arriving.

Chosen Canon Point: Angel Episode 1x9 Hero. When he vanished into the burning light he went through the veil and healed.

Personality and Psychology: Allen Francis Doyle at first was a young but motivated man, managing to get his teaching credentials before he was even 20. very driven. He was a third grade teacher and married to a woman he loved very much, but then one day everything changed. After he turned twenty one, Doyle and Harry had been talking about having children of their own, and it was at that time that his half demon blood manifested itself. It was something that he could not handle. Harry freaked out, for obvious reasons, which was a big factor in Francis' fall, and though she learned to accept it his demon heritage and be excited by it, he could not. Almost overnight the man that had been Francis Doyle completely changed. A strong self loathing made him become something Harry never expected, a monster. Someone she could not live with. He threw his normal life away and hit the bottles hard, finding that the only peace he got was with a good drink. Slowly but surely his life feel apart: he lost his job, then Harry finally walked out on him. He dove deeper and deeper into despair, and Francis never thought he had be able to amount to anything, because of his demonic blood.

Doyle is someone that doesn’t realize his true potential anymore. He always ends up putting himself down, yet will roll his eyes when others do. He would sooner find a way to get himself a drink then to help someone openly. He does want to help people but he just has his issues stopping him, until he met Angel. Meeting Angel opened him more to the idea of helping others again, helping to get him to become something closer to the man he had been, but still far away from the man who called himself Francis. Doyle feels safer behind his act as the drunken conman with the gambling problem. The Rock bottom, it keeps one from having high expectations of life, as he once told Angel.

Though given his outlook most would not realize this is how he is or feels since he comes across as pleasant to talk to and is a bit of a cheeky and optimistic person when he is sober. Sometimes he is more playful when drunk but a lot of times the sadness shows itself. He is a bit of a loser and knows it but that never really bothered him too much. Doyle is a charmer; is it part of his whole ‘con-man’ image he portrays. He can easily bring people’s guards down with a charming smile, and some sweet talk if not a reassuring word here or there. This has saved his ass on more the one occasion. He is a bit of a coward through, never doubt that, especially when he is in trouble due to money or his lifestyle. He is more likely to run and hide than face what he is caused. Namely if he knows he cannot handle it.

The visions are another big part of whom he is. He feels they are a curse on him due to not helping a clan of his own kind, Brachen demons. They were in danger and he cowardly turned them away. Now he lives with the guilt of the massacre on his soul. The visions are the price he pays for their slaughter, helping save any life he can while still trying to come off as someone who doesn't care about others. He had a purpose with the visions: to help Angel save the helpless. However, Doyle would never consider himself a hero. He is just the sidekick watching the car, while Angel is The Dark Avenger, The Hero, the best friend he never realized he needed. Doyle thinks he is just there to help the hero along his path of redemption, his own too far away. Many times Angel tried to get Doyle to open up to him and talk to him, but Doyle’s not really one to talk about his past. He is still troubled by it and despite trusting in Angel he chooses to keep his troubles from his friends for since possible.

He is not always fake and trying to hold his conman persona. Doyle is a genuine person under it all and he does look out for those he cares a great deal about. He will be a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear if someone he cares about has a problem they need to talk about. He has a good heart and no amount of depression and self hate could destroy that no matter how he tried. Deep down he will always have part of the man he had been before his world came crashing down alive inside of him. Doyle is also bit of a hypocrite at times: he will often tell others something before going ahead and doing the opposite himself. For example, telling Angel they need to help those in need of it, but telling a beggar asking for change to 'get a job.' He likes to think that while one thing may apply to others, it doesn’t necessarily apply to him. Doyle’s quite fond of his drinks and often gets rather emotional after too many drinks and starts badly quoting “Angela’s Ashes”.

Doyle will still not believe that he is a true hero despite anything good he is done. Doyle will hold up his conman persona as he did before, and he is most likely to be very social to build himself up a new network at first. He always has a history of bad friends that will always come after him in the end. He always ends up with the wrong crowd, one of the reasons Angel and Cordy often worried when Doyle would talk about 'talking to one of his guys.' Danger always follows. Children, generally good people and overly friendly he will avoid at first, as he feels he is a lost soul that need not be around people like them, or he might taint them. All because of his father's DNA. He would punch the man if he ever got to meet him.


Memories Retained or Lost: He's lost a lot of his memories, his time with Angel is gone. As is a lot of his failed marriage. He remembers large chunks but a lot of it is just lost to time.

Powers and Abilities: Doyle is a half-Brachen demon half-human mix; he can transform to a demon form with green skin and blue spikes sticking out of his face and neck. In his demon form he has a very enhanced sense of smell and is stronger with more stamina and dexterity than a normal human. For example, he was able to sniff out a powerful ring that Angel had hidden in the tunnels under the office within a second of switching forms. He can also withstand injuries to an extent because of that strength without any bad after-effects. He also survived Angel snapping his neck in an act to full an army of psycho demons hell bent of wiping out half breeds. However, getting knocked around a bit too much or even something like sneezing can force his demon side out without his willing it.

Doyle is cursed with the gift he wishes he could return, of prophetic visions from The Powers That Be, which includes images of the person in danger, their name, places in which evil is present or going to happen or anything the Powers want to be dealt with. These visions cause him a horrible amount of pain, though his half-demon physiology prevents his brain from suffering real damage, since humans are not supposed to have visions. The last human who did before Cordelia had the back of her head blow out from a strong vision.

According to the Angel/Buffy Novel; Monster Island we get to meet Doyle's father fucking bastard he is and learn that Brachaens are magically inclined. This is not something he knows but its something that could be played with in time.
